Right Wing Group Says Cabranes Cavorted With Terrorists

We have learned that Sen. Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III (R-AL) has a favorite Puerto Rican jurist -- Jose Cabranes. Sessions demanded to know why Judge Sotomayor did not follow Judge Cabranes' lead

Interestingly, Sessions was very critical of Judge Sotomayor's involvement, as a member of the Board of Directors, of the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund. Sessions seemed not to know that his favorite Boricua judge, Cabranes, was also a member of the Board of the PRDLEF. Now right wing groups allied with Sessions and following his lead are running an ad attacking Sotomayor as a "terrorist."

The question needs to be asked of Sen. Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III (R-AL) (the KKK sympathizer; the person who said the NAACP was a "commie" group and who berated a white lawyer who worked for civil rights as a "disgrace to his race"), what do he and his allies make of the fact that their favorite Puerto Rican jurist, Jose Cabranes, was also a member of the "terrorist" group - the PRLDEF?

Sessions and his bigoted pals got nothin' left but banging on the table and shouting at the top of their voices?

Maybe by then the human race will have become civilized towards one another.

Next question?

Who are these racist psychopath's attempting to appealing to that wasn't already in their camp? What a shitty, politically suicidal strategy.

Sessions stuck his foot in it a second time.

After his attempt to smear Sotomayer by comparing her unfavorably to Cabranes, he then set out to compare her unfavorably to Judge Miriam Cedarbaum.

Turns out Judge Cedarbaum, a long time friend of Sotomayor, was sitting in the hearing room behind Sotomayor!

Rachel Maddow has the story and the video. It starts at 4:10 of this clip. (The first 4:09 covers Sessions' comparing Sotomayor to Cabranes - good stuff too!).

Rachel Maddow: Sotomayor Survives Day #2

And the WSJ followed up on Sessions' gaffe by interviewing Judge Cedarbaum, where she confirms her support for Sotomayor.

WSJ: Sotomayor Surprises Sessions

“I don’t believe for a minute that there are any differences in our approach to judging, and her personal predilections have no effect on her approach to judging,” she told Washington Wire. “We’d both like to see more women on the courts,” she added.

Cedarbaum, a pioneering woman lawyer who graduated from Columbia Law School in 1953, goes way back with both participants in the colloquy. Cedarbaum mentored Sotomayor after she joined the federal district court in Manhattan in 1992, and they have been close friends ever since.

In 1986, Cedarbaum and Sessions were both nominated to the federal bench by President Ronald Reagan, and were members of the same orientation class for future judges. Their paths then diverged, however. Cedarbaum was confirmed, but Sessions nomination floundered over a controversy surrounding comments he made involving the Ku Klux Klan and the NAACP.

ROFLMAO!!

Go GOP Go!

Now really, how can anybody with a name like Beauregard be taken for a KKK sympathizer, hmmm? /snark

Did i mention that that Sessions person is an evil gnome, and it's very odd that we should find him in any position of authority?

Bluh bluh terrorist bluh bluh.

Change the record, you knuckle-dragging right-wing fucksacks.

and

all this time ,

I thought Ala-bama was a muslim state .

republicanism is a mental illness!

how

I would love to MAN-slap these repunks , if it was not for 4th class they would not have any class at all .

It really is amazing how completely unprepared this imbecile is. What does he do all day besides eat rubber chicken at nite, play with himself in his office during his myriad breaks, and read notes written by his staff.

I mean...geeez. You're going to be on camera for crimmineee sake. Prepare. Your colleagues know you're a racist ass monkey who'd stab his own mother in the eye for a big contribution from a large donor, buit hell...at least try to put up a front on camera.

Sessions would probably tell you that his REAL favorite Puerto Rican jurist is actually the denied Bush nominee Miguel Estrada.

What's that you say? Estrada is of Honduran descent, not Puerto Rican?

Oh don't be silly, to Sen. Sessions they're all the same.

(Except of course that the men should be mowing his lawn, while the women should be cleaning his house....)

OK this paragraph reads, to me, like a script for areally effective ad against Session's stance
The question needs to be asked of Sen. So show stills of Sessions making these statements, end it with him attacking Sotomayer and fade out with "Really?" on the screen.

OK ending is lame, but then, so is Sessions ;)
